Is it legal to own a squirrel as a pet in the state of California?

there my favorite and i really want one. i live in south san francisco and i have a big room to make into a play pin. i love them but i heard they were vicious. i just wanna know if its legalIs it legal to own a squirrel as a pet in the state of California?

They aren't vicious when raised properly, but unfortunately, no; they are not legal in the state of California, and there is a really heavy fine for someone caught with one, plus having your pet taken away and likely euthanized.





I am sorry to say that California has some really stupid animal laws; we can have Reticulated pythons, but we can't have ferrets or hedgehogs. How in the world does that make sense?

Feral rodents tend to have sharp teeth and know how to use them - to survive. They can also be exposed to disease.





Suggestion: leave the squirrels where they are and go to them.
Squirrels are not a legal pet in California.
